Code of Practice

Responsible development

The cement industry has developed a voluntary Code of Practice for use of waste-derived fuels with regular input from the Environment Agency, led by the British Cement Association (now part of the Mineral Products Association).

The Code of Practice reflects legislation governing the use of waste materials as a fuel in cement kilns (Waste Incineration Directive), as well as the European Union’s Public Consultation Directive.

Sapphire Energy Recovery’s technical and commercial experts are able to guide both waste producers and cement manufacturers through required procedures for use of waste-derived materials in cement kilns and other disposal routes such as aggregate replacement.
