Health, Safety and Environment
Health and Safety
Health and safety for our employees and customers on site is our number one priority.
We have a dedicated Health, Safety and Environmental manager to strengthen our service team and oversee all Sapphire Energy Recovery’s operations.
We maintain strict guidelines for all our sites that include the compulsory wearing of a protective hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe-capped boots and high visibility clothing.
We also have OHSAS 18001 accreditation, an Occupation Health and Safety Assessment Series for health and safety management systems, intended to help control occupational health and safety risks.
Environment
All our processing centres in the UK are certified to ISO 14001, registered to the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and regularly monitored by the Environment Agency.
Our cement customers operate within the Waste Incineration Directive, which came into force in 2005. The Directive is mandatory for all UK cement kilns that burn tyres and other waste-derived fuels.
