In one year alone, Sapphire Energy Recovery managed to:

• Divert almost 161,000 tonnes of waste from landfill and other disposal options, which if spread a metre thick would cover area of 48 acres, the size of 26 football pitches.

• Use over 100,000 tonnes of waste as alternative fuel, saving almost 80,000 tonnes of fossil fuels.

• Use 60,000 tonnes of waste as alternative raw materials, replacing almost 52,000 tonnes of primary minerals, which if dug from the ground would create a hole large enough to accommodate 43 average sized houses.
